Schools
Sir Robert Geffery's Trust owns Sir Robert Geffery's School at Landrake in Cornwall, a Church of England voluntary aided primary school and pre-school. The Academy Trustees are all Members of The Worshipful Company of Ironmongers, who have a wealth of experience in education and business.
Thomas Betton's Charity supports Church of England primary schools in England and Wales. The Company works in partnership with the Church of England's education division and Diocesan Directors of Education to identify schools facing challenging circumstances, predominantly in areas with high levels of deprivation. Grants are made for educational activities and/or resources that are additional to those usually funded by the State. Through its involvement over a number of years, the Company aims to help schools achieve planned improvements.
Funds are currently committed to existing partnerships. All Diocesan Directors of Education will be notified when the Company is actively seeking new partner schools. Appeals are not accepted directly from individual schools.
STEM
In line with the Company's history and in response to the much publicised shortfall of skilled STEM workers in the UK, the Ironmongers’ Foundation supports initiatives that encourage young people to study science subjects at school and go on to pursue STEM-related further education or vocational training, particularly in the area of Materials Science.
The Foundation considers Materials Science to be science applied to understanding the production, properties and engineering applications of materials. This may be considered from the perspective of physics, chemistry, mathematics or vocational studies.
Iron Trade
In 1977 the Company set up a Jubilee Award for the foundry industry to commemorate the Queen's Silver Jubilee. An annual prize consisting of a medal and attendance at the World Foundry Congress, is given to a person aged under thirty two who has produced the best piece of development work in the ferrous foundry industry. The winner is selected with the help of the Institute of Cast Metals Engineers.
The Company encourages high standards of quality in the use of iron and steel. Grants are made for the restoration of historic ironwork and the creation of new decorative iron and steel work.
Almshouse
The Company supports an almshouse in Basingstoke, Hampshire. Geffery's Fields provides sheltered housing for 65 retired people of limited means.

Military Affiliations
We are honoured to be affiliated to the Grenadier Guards; one of the oldest and most iconic regiments in the British Army. Whether they are fighting on the front line or guarding a Royal Palace, members of the Regiment are renowned for their determination, loyalty and grit. We contribute to the Colonel’s Fund, which supports all Grenadiers (and their families) who have been affected by serious injury or disability.
We are also proud to have forged links with HMS Venturer, the first of the Royal Navy’s Inspiration Class Type 31 Frigates, since her keel-laying ceremony in 2022. She will enter service by 2025, and we look forward to the further development of our affiliation.
We also provide the Sea Cadets and Army Cadet Force with grants that support young people to participate fully in the cadet experience.
